Since we are anticipating larger-than-normal attendance for the upcoming exhibition “Cave Temples of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China’s Silk Road” (May 7–September 4, 2016), here are some things you should know regarding access if you are planning to visit in the next few months:
- It is strongly recommended that you allow extra time to park and get to the library, especially if you have scheduled an appointment in the Special Collections Reading Room.
- Since parking is limited, you may also want to consider alternatives to driving your own car to the Getty (such as taking public transportation or ridesharing options). Go to www.metro.net for the most up-to-date public transit information.
- Because large crowds are expected in the GRI’s gallery space, you should enter, exit, and validate your parking on L2 if visiting the library Monday – Friday. (Since the L2 Reader entrance/exit is closed on the weekend however, you will need to use the Plaza entrance if visiting on a Saturday or Sunday.)
- Finally, please be advised that in preparation for the opening of this exhibition, the Getty site will be closing early on Friday, May 6. All readers will need to leave the library by 4:30 p.m. that day.
As always, for the latest news about the library, including timely notices about access, subscribe to the library blog at https://grilibrary.wordpress.com/. Signing up is easy – just follow the link and enter your email in the area “Subscribe to receive posts via email” on the right side of the page.
